Bliz, y u teeze mee?

I will freely admit it: I am a mount whore. I love mounts. If I can ride it, I want it. I want multiples of it. In different colors. It's quite a problem.

I don't know why or how it started. At some point I developed quite an obsession for mount collecting. And you have to admit, in the lull between expansions what BETTER thing to do than hunt down mounts? There's hundreds in the game. It's like Pokemon. Gotta catch em all.

I think I have a problem...

I am about 40 mounts shy of the 200 mark, and it absolutely kills me. Seriously. I have a SPREADSHEET. I made it myself. But not only do I already have all these mounts I still need to get, but Blizzard is teasing me with mooooore. Blizz. Why you tease me? Why?

On the one hand, I am SUPER excited for these new datamined mounts. They look completely awesome.

world of warcraft mount datamine bug silithidAt the same time though, it's kind of daunting knowing that when the next expansion comes out, there's gonna be some much to do still in the realm of mount collecting, on top of the mounts I still have to get now. Hence, the spreadsheet. If anyone wants a copy of the spreadsheet, shoot me an email.

It was hinted that the horse could be a RAF mount, and the Ravager could be a store mount. But I'm not sure about the Stormcrow. I think it could be linked to the Arakkoa, or maybe the Draenei given its blue color. But at the same time there won't be flight in Draenor so why would there be a flying mount? I have no idea.

We can speculate to hell and back, but right now I'm gonna do what I know I can do. I'm gonna follow my spreadsheet, do my instances, do my Argent Tournament dailies, and get as many mounts as I can until Warlords drops.

Azeroth Dudebro

A lot of people in the community have been up in arms about Blizzard's new miniseries on YouTube Azeroth Choppers. Firstly, I wanna preface this post by saying that I've actually watched American Chopper before. My mom used to watch it so sometimes while she was watching it I'd sit down and watch it with her. Not something I'd specifically turn on the TV to see but if it was on and I was bored, I'd watch it. You know?

The big criticism of it is that it's basically about middle-aged men designing and building motorcycles and playing rock music in the background and that it excludes a lot of the playerbase. I can see where people are coming from when they say that. It's a concept that by and large would probably appeal to males more than anyone else. To some it may seem like the more Blizzard does, the more they're making it seem like World of Warcraft is only a game for guy, and not meant for US. And by us, I mean females.

Being a bit annoyed by Azeroth Choppers, I totally get. Don't even get me started on Chris Metzen's "boys trip" comment he made at Blizzcon last year. I totally get the righteous fury. But I think in the case of Azeroth Choppers, it's maybe a bit... misdirected? I guess maybe I'm out of the norm as far as female WoW players go, but I tend to have a kind of "guy-ish" mentality at times.

I DO like rock music, and I DO think motorcycles are cool (though I'd never ride one; fuck that noise, literally), and I do think that the promo photo for Warlords of Draenor with the main orcs lined up and looking like a rock band was kinda cool. I say the words bro and dude a lot and I don't get offended when someone says cunt. Maybe I'm more easygoing than some girls.

My point is that they're not excluding WOMEN in particular. Maybe they're just excluding people who don't like motorcycles and rock music, but not necessarily women. If they, for instance, collaborated with the animators of My Little Pony and made a short film with all the major Warcraft characters as ponies would you be complaining so much? Would you say "You're excluding men and it's not okay, bro!"  I really don't think so.

My point is, that it's all about perspective. What someone thinks is lame, someone else might think is totally awesome. Maybe the next big thing Blizzard does, is going to be something more aimed at a female playerbase. But I really don't think getting so angry at something fairly small is gonna make them listen to the stuff that we as women ask for. That My Little Pony thing I pitched earlier? Let's make that happen. That would be AWESOME.

Let's think of cool things Blizzard could do to make us happy. Here's some things I can think of:

  • My Little Pony-style animated short
  • Anything related to My Little Pony
  • Turn all the major female characters into a pop band and have their voice actresses record a song and make a music video for it (bonus points if they look like ponies)
  • Some sort of contest, like an art contest or a poetry contest, and the winner gets to custom design a pet or mount
Ok so maybe I have My Little Pony on the brain a little too much, but my point is that that's what I like. Someone else might not like that. People don't like Azeroth Choppers. I get that. Other people do. Maybe the next thing that rolls around will be something that appeals to those who don't like Azeroth Choppers. But can we all please just stop complaining and play our game?

On the Spot

You know how you always have plenty to say, until you're put on the spot and told to say it? That's how I feel right now. I remember before starting this blog and jumping headfirst into it, I had lots of thoughts and things I wanted to say, things I needed to get off my chest about gaming, feelings I wanted to express. It seems all those things I wanted to say before have poof, gone from my head.

I guess I'm not actually USED to actually having an outlet for these thoughts, they seem to be swim around in my head for a little while then disappear after a little bit. Now I supposed I'll have to grab and hold onto them. I do quite like writing lists though, so a list of potential blog topics could be beneficial for me to maintain. Sometimes things just come to you without really think about it.

Like this post, for example. I was thinking about how now I have no idea what to write about, so I figured, why not write ABOUT not knowing what to write about? It's a good way to get the creativity flowing. Let the words out and the ideas will follow. I do have a few posts in mind already; it's just a matter of writing them. But before I do that, I think I'll start my list now.

The Obligatory Introduction Post

I feel like it would be kinda weird for me to just jump into blogging without some sort of introduction.  Kinda like how you don't just go up to someone on the street and talk to them without at least telling them your name. So here it is, the obligatory introductory post.

super mario noob gamer

Real-life wise, there's not much to say. I'm a boring 21 year old girl who plays a lot of video games. I live with my mom and 13 year old brother, and 3 dogs.  I work as a dietary aide in a nursing home, which basically means I'm a lunch lady.

world of warcraft blood elf mageMy gaming life, however, is much more interesting. From a very young age I played games. My elementary school had those cute candy colored iMacs, and in our free time they let us play on them. Mostly I liked to play Bugdom and Oregon Trail. My grandparents also always had a PC and my grandma would buy me the corresponding Jump Start game for whichever grade I was in. I also played a Barbie detective game, but let's not talk about that. I'm also very fond of city building games like Pharaoh and Zeus, Zoo Tycoon, and the Sims.

world of warcraft blood elf death knight

My grandparents also had a Super Nintendo. I'd play Super Mario on that. I remember I could never figure out how to get past Bowser's first castle, so when I go to it I'd just go back to the beginning of the map and start over. I know, what a noob. My aunt had a Nintendo 64 and I looooved playing Super Mario World. I remember thinking how it was such an absolutely pretty game. I also have a PS2 that I don't play too much, I mostly use it to plays DVDs.

world of warcraft blood elf hunterMy first MMO was Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst. I was in total awe. I can play a game, and other people around the world are playing it too? At the same time? OVER THE INTERNETZ?!?!?! Mind. Blown. I played that game for a while. Then I started playing City of Villains and City of Heroes. I played those off and on for years and really enjoyed them. I've played a few other MMOs a little bit. Flyff, Tera, DaDO, Rift, just started trying out Wildstar.

world of warcraft troll druidBut WoW. WoW is my crack. I started playing WoW a few years ago, about during 4.2. My first 85 was my blood elf mage. I'm a Horde girl at heart. Leveling her, I did not get the whole rested xp thing so I'd log her out wherever I decided to stop. People would say log out in an inn, log out in an inn and I was like 'wtf whyyyyy'. No one told me so I never did. I know. What a noob.

What's with all these blood elves?
I got into raiding a little with my guild, leveled my second 85, my restoration druid and current main. I love my druid. She's my baby. I also play a hunter, holy priest, and blood death knight. Right now I'm looking to transfer servers and get into a good heroic raiding guild. Until then, I'm just playin my games.
