Warcraft Pets in Real Life

One of the most fun parts of World of Warcraft, for me anyways, is collecting pets. I have a very large pet collection and I'm always on the lookout for more. I have a big pet collection in real life as well, just maybe not quite so big. There are so many cool pets in World of Warcraft. What if you could have one in real life?

warcraft pet shadow blizzard store battle

If I could pick just one World of Warcraft pet to have in real life, I think I would pick Shadow. He's such a cutie. Reasons I'd pick Shadow:

1. He's a fox. It would be so cool to have a pet fox. In fact, some people DO have pet foxes. I don't think that's legal in my state though, plus they're expensive and you have to pay extra attention to them and train them very well. I've always wanted a pet fox. It's the ears!

2. He likes to cuddle. I also like to cuddle. I'll cuddle with him on a pile of gnome corpses.

3. He's purple. At least some of the time. The other part of the time he looks similar to a fennec fox, which is still awesome coloring. I still like the purple best though.

4. He glows. He has glowy bits on him. I'd never stumble around in the dark again.

5. He's hyper. I love hyper pets because they're never boring.

I think a close second would be Lil' Tarecgosa, because I love the way she looks, I loved the story behind the pet, and I'd teach her to set people on fire when I said 'Dracarys'.

What pet would YOU pick?

What Class Do you REFUSE to Play?

In video games, and MMOs in particular, we have certain common archetypes to assign our characters. We can be a tank, a ranged DPS, a melee DPS, or some type of healer. Every game puts their own spin in it, but the archetypes are there. But I think most of us have that one type of class we flat out REFUSE to play.

Maybe we just prefer to be far away from the action, or we like to be up close. Maybe you like calling the shots so you play a tank. Maybe you're nurturing so you play a healer. OR maybe you play a healer because you like having peoples' lives in your hands and enjoy letting someone you don't like die. Whatever the case, we have our favorites and our least favorites.

For me, the class I REFUSE to play is melee DPS. I'm just not good at it. My positioning is always wrong. I always die. It's just not a good time for me. Besides, I much prefer to ranged DPS or heal. I've been to tank every once in a while too. I like tanking better than melee DPS because all I have to do is taunt and use basic attacks. I don't need to worry about a perfect rotation.I just press buttons and my raid wins for me.

In my main game World of Warcraft, this translates to me never playing a rogue. I've tried, guys. I just hated it. I also tried warrior, and I also hated it. I tried tanking too. Warriors as a class I'm just not a fan of personally. It just never vibed with me, and that's okay. The beauty of an MMO is that you have plenty to choose from and there's usually always someone out there to fill that other role.

Sylvanas, Teldrassil, and the Horde

"The worst thing about killing all these night elves, is having to skin the little bastards afterwards."

sylvanas warbringer windrunner world of warcraft legion battle for azeroth

A lot of people on the World of Warcraft community have strong feelings about Sylvanas's recent actions, namely the burning of Teldrassil and the conquest of Darkshore. A lot of the dissenting voices are Alliance players, but there's also a lot of players who disagree with Sylvanas too. They say this isn't their Horde anymore.

And really, it's not. It's Sylvanas's Horde.

Sylvanas's reasoning for the siege of Darkshore and Teldrassil is that she wants to take control of the Azerite supply before Anduin can, because she believes he will use it to make siege weapons to use against the Horde. I call bullshit on that. She knows he's a pussy. He wouldn't do that.

Sylvanas has some other ulterior motive. She's getting something else out of this. She could be just war-hungry and want to spill all the blood she can, but I feel like there's something else she wants. Maybe we'll find out what that is. Maybe it's that she doesn't trust anyone like her - the living dead. Maybe her end-game is to turn everyone into Forsaken. Maybe she went after the Night Elves first because they're all about life and the Dream and ponies and all that shit.

I think the Old Soldier cinematic, plus Sylvanas's somewhat crazy actions are setting us up for yet another Warchief: Saurfang. He's the most reasonable one in all this madness. He still has a conscience, and he's questioning the honor of Sylvanas's actions. I think by the end of Battle For Azeroth, Sylvnas may have met her final death. It sure seems like that's where this is going. This is disappointing because I really love Sylvanas, but in a way she has come full circle. She's become the thing that she fought against in life: the Lich King.

I enjoyed the Battle for Lordaeron scenario, but I don't think I want to do it on any other characters. I'm the type of person who prefers to just do something once. Did anyone else notice that the Undercity looked so much better, like the upgraded the graphics for the scenario? Kinda makes me salty. It looks all pretty and we'll probably never see it again. I also did an internal cheer when they started hurling the blight at the Alliance. At first I was a little concerned, but then I saw they were handing out gas masks and I felt better. I was like "YEAH GIVE EM THE BLIGHT. EAT IT MOTHERFUCKERS". Then stupid Jaina had to come in and ruin the fun with her big giant boat (which was kinda cool, I won't lie). It was also cool when Sylvanas raised the dead skeletons from the ground. I was like "Wait is Sylvanas a death knight now?" I think Sylvanas planned to blow Lordaeron and blight it up from the beginning. She has an angle. She knew she couldn't keep the city from the jump. I just wonder how she's going to turn it to her advantage.

I'm also not sure of Sylvanas's assertion that killing Malfurion will break the night elves' spirits and force them to submit. I feel like that would only make them fight harder. I think that in the war against the Legion, Sylvanas was a brilliant general. But she just doesn't know how to function when there's peace. She still think there's some sort of war, and if there isn't then she wants to start one.

Which to be honest I don't have much of a problem with. I love Sylvanas and I always have. As a druid, I'm a pretty big fan of trees, but if Sylvanas tells me to burn this shit down, it's gonna burn. I follow my Warchief.

Cool Tidbits From E3 2018

This is by no means a comprehensive recap of E3, just a few things that stood out to me that I'm kind of excited for or curious about. I don't really follow new games too closely since I'm almost always playing World of Warcraft, but I do like to play other games sometimes. Maybe one of these new ones will tear me away from my druid for a while? On with the show!

1. Kingdom Hearts

Kingdom Hearts 3 E3 Monsters Inc Sora Goofy Donald Playstation

The confirmed release date for KH3 is January 25, 2019. It's been confirmed there will be a Toy Story world, Monsters, Inc. world, a Tangled world, a Big Hero Six world, a Frozen world, and the return of the Hercules world and the Pirates of the Caribbean world. Also, ship battles.  There will also be a special edition PlayStation 4 Pro, with a Kingdom Hearts theme, and includes all Kingdom Hearts games with it. It's mostly black so not really my aesthetic. I already have a white PS4. Still, it's interesting.

Kingdom Hearts playstation 4 pro edition deluxe E3

2. Anthem

Anthem rpg online E3

I think Anthem looks kind of interesting. You wear different interchangeable robot suits, which are kind of like classes, and you go on missions. It's an online RPG. I'm still kind of fuzzy ont eh details but it looks like it has potential. So far it seems kind of like Warframe and Defiance had a baby.

3. Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 game E3

This doesn't look like the game I'd ordinarily play, but the trailer made it look pretty cool. It looks somewhat like Ghost in the Shell, if that show took a LOT of acid.  The actual story wasn't revealed at all, but it said there will be specializations, you can have your own apartment, customize your character, and do other stuff that sounds interesting to me, depending on what the story will be. It's definitely one I'll keep an eye on.

4. Assassin's Creed Odyssey

assassin's creed odyssey E3 game greece

I've played a few Assassin's Creed games and I enjoy them. I've always been a history buff, even as a little kid. Though I'm disappointed it doesn't appear you can play a female protagonist, I do enjoy ancient history so I'll probably play the game for that aspect. I see a few historical references in the trailer too. One is an erupting volcano, which may be a reference to the destruction of Pompeii. I also noticed a battle scene reminiscent of the scene in 300 where one of the soldiers kicks someone in the chest (I never actually saw 300, just the trailer, so I'm not sure the character's name or the context). The graphics also look really nice.

One Crisis At a Time

Earlier in the year, I made a commitment to posting at least two times a week on this blog.  I did very good with that for a while, and it all went down the toilet.  One day my PC was working, and the next it wouldn't boot up.  Like at all.

I do have some computer training, but after doing some basic troubleshooting, I found I was getting impatient and annoyed and I just didn't want to do it anymore.  So I passed my PC on to a PC repair shop and waited.

And waited.

And waited.

I called them and harassed them a bit.

Then I waited some more.

All they kept sating was they were trying different things, parts were being shipped, yadda yadda yadda.

This went on for two months.

Eventually the guy admitted he had no earthly idea what it could possibly be.  He had replaced the motherboard, the connectors, the power supply, everything he could think of, to no avail.  He returned my dead PC back to me (at no charge, lucky for him, because I would have been LIVID if he had charged me) and I got started looking for a new PC repair place who might be able to figure out the problem.  So I found someone in my area who does a pickup service and he took my PC around 7 that night to work on.

The dude calls me the next morning and says he figured out the problem.  It was my graphics card the ENTIRE time.  I wanted to literally slam my head into a wall.

So I just RMA'd my shiny, still relatively new EVGA 1080.  I now await the arrival of the replacement.  Without the graphics card, the PC boots up fine and dandy.  I cannot for the life of me understand how such a simple issue could not be figured out in two months.  I just can't with people sometimes.

So in those two months I've been stuck with my laptop, which cannot play any games made post-2001.  I shit you not, the processor is that bad.  It's a pretty new laptop and I paid for the extra graphics card option, but the processor is just so awful.  I have not been on WoW, I have not been doing pet battles, or doing any work on my website at all.  Typing on the keyboard of the laptop also makes my wrists hurt really bad.

So, my new graphics card will be coming in soon and then I can get back to my regularly scheduled programming.

Number 8

As the title may vaguely suggest, this is a mostly filler post to round out my monthly post count goal.  So I thought I'd do some little updates.

Firstly, the sidebars of the blog have gotten much more action recently as I've been putting up affiliate links.  Do I think I'll get any meaningful income from them? Nah.  But do I feel like a real accomplished blogger having them there? Fuck yes I do.

I also added a pet battles section up in the top menu bar, to as as somewhat of a repository for the pet battle posts I'm gonna be publishing.  You may have already noticed me starting to post some strategies for pet battle achievements and such.  My game is in somewhat of a lull right now, so I've been going back and doing some stuff I never got around to this expansion, like mount runs and pet battles.  I thought I'd document the process, for views posterity.  I've been somewhat frustrated with my raid team lately, so I've taken a step back from raiding with them and have found some extra free time on my hands.

I'm planning a lot more pet battle posts, including strategies for almost every long pet battle achievement there IS.  But really, Family Familiar is an absolute BITCH.  Each quest comes up completely randomly like not even once a week, like less than once a week.  And you can only do one pet family per that quest, and once you complete the quest you can't fight them again.  There's 10 families and like a dozen trainers for that quest!   It's absolute garbage.  What's worse is I can't even retest my strategies to see if they're repeatably viable.  It's trash.

As far as other future content goes, I'm going to be updating my ever-popular Girl Cave posts with my new desk setup (now 90% cooler).  I'll also be writing some cool new guides and reviews, so look out for those.

Favorite Extensions for Chrome for Privacy, Security, and Convenience

I am a Google Chrome user, but I would never be able to use it without some important extensions that make my life easier and my Chrome experience better.  Some of them are for privacy, some for convenience, and some are for good old shopping.  I hope this might give you some ideas on what to add to your browser.  Some of these have versions available for browsers other than Chrome, so if you don't use Chrome, fear not!  Your browser might have an equivalent extension.

1. Adblock for YouTube

chrome extension adblock for youtube privacy tracking ads
This one gets rid of any ads in a video on YouTube.  If you do want to support a creator and view their ads, you can choose to turn it off.

2. Adblock Plus

chrome extension adblock privacy tracking adsI can't begin to tell you how much I love this.  It removes ads from every web page.  If you want to show ads on a page, you can whitelist the site to view their ads.  Make sure you whitelist this one!

3. Amazon Assistant for Chrome

chrome extension amazon assistant shopping easy
This one is pretty nifty.  You can take a product from any website and add it to an Amazon wishlist of your choosing.  I like to shop around so I've definitely found this handy.

4. Amazon Wish List Total

chrome extension amazon wish list total shopping easy
This one just keeps a running total of the cost of a particular Amazon wishlist.  It kind of makes me sad because it shows me how materialistic and broke I am.

5. Disconnect

chrome extension disconnect privacy security tracking ads
This one removes social media icons from all websites you visit.  I personally love it because it reduces a lot of the clutter on a website.  I'm not the type to share things to social media and I prefer a crisper layout.  It also keeps websites from being able to track you.  Like Adblock, you can whitelist a site and see all the icons on it.  Remember to whitelist this one!

6. HTTPS Everywhere

chrome extension https everywhere privacy security

For those who don't know, https is a security protocol that shows a web page is secure.  This extension forces all website to be secure and use https encryption.  At least that's how I understand it.

7. Just Delete Me

chrome extension just delete me privacy information
This is a godsend if you're paranoid like me.  I HATE having my personal info floating around, and if I have an account on a website I no longer use, this extension helps you to delete that account so it no longer has your information.

8. LastPass Password Manager

chrome extension lastpass passwords manage encrypted
Another one I couldn't live without.  This keeps a highly encrypted list of all your passwords, and auto fills them in when you go to a website.  It is incredibly useful.

 9. Personal Blocklist

chrome extension personal blocklist easy get rid of website
This one's pretty simple.  If you do a Google search, this will give you an option for blocking a certain website from coming up in the results.  Mostly I use to to block EVERY country's version of Pinterest, because it annoys the heck out of me.

 10. PureVPN Proxy

chrome extension purevpn proxy vpn easy privacy security
Another one I use because of my paranoia!  This makes it much more difficult for people to track your location and IP address, plus more security features.  I also use their non-browser VPN service, which you can take a loot at here.  This is an affiliate link.

11. Session Buddy

chrome extension session buddy easy tabs saving
This one is super useful if you're like me and stay up way too late getting lost researching in the Google rabbit hole.  This lets you save all your tabs so you can come back to them another day.

Just Making Things a Bit Prettier...

So you may notice some changes up in here!  I did some things to try to make the blog a bit prettier and easier to read.

I changed up the layout.  I added a third column and a nice background image.

I went back to a few of my older posts and updated them, including adding copyable text boxes to my UI-related posts to make it easier to copy strings of code!  You can go check them out by clicking the Restoration Druid Guide tab up on top of the post.

Another great thing I added was a couple of Related Posts tools, one on the right column and another that pops up.

Lastly, I added tools for following and sharing on social media.  I feel like my blog now is much more cohesive and sleek.  Posts flow into one another, and in some of them that are still relevant I added links which may also be helpful for that particular topic, such as the boss guides and Restoration Druid Guide posts.  Everyone who is into content creation know it's important to make sure that people STAY on your site and go from page to page, and that is by creating webs of links to keep people engaged.  I'm just hoping I did it right.  Either way, I'm super happy with the changes I made and more are certainly to come.

My Favorite World of Warcraft Races

With the release of the new World of Warcraft expansion, Battle for Azeroth, now available for prepurchase, and with it the release of a few of the new allied races, I thought I would talk a little bit about my personal favorite races.  We all have our biases.  Maybe we always make our characters a particular race (unless forced otherwise due to class restrictions), or we vow to never ever make a character of a certain other race.  I know we all have our preferences.  Maybe these preferences extend across all games with race selection (personally I would NEVER play a human if given another option - I already play one in real life).  Let's take a look at my top favorite World of Warcraft races!

Night Elves

It may be odd for me to say that night elves are in my top two favorite races, considering I'm Horde for life, but they are.  I wish they were a Horde race.  I love the aesthetic, and how they have FANGS.  FANGS YOU GUYS.  In real life I am a treehugger of the highest caliber, and I really identify with the night elves because they're also all about nature, balance, and all that hippie stuff, because I too am all about that hippie stuff.  Darnassus also happens to be my favorite city, and if I had to live in a capital city, it would be Darnassus.  Plus their ears make for so many earring options.  You can bet if I had those ears, every inch of ear space would be blinged out.

Favorite World of Warcraft races

Trolls

Trolls come in second on my list of favorite races.  I love trolls.  I love their accents, and their funky hairstyles, and how the respect nature.  It's not the same type of reverence as the night elves have, but they still very much respect and care for nature.  They are also the only Horde race that doesn't look like a COW that can be a druid, and druids are my favorite class.  I also love how chill trolls are.  I feel like I'd be right at home in a group of trolls, sitting by the ocean, around a fire, smoking a bowl.

"You want anudda hit, mon?"

Yes, please, thank you, I would like another hit.

Also they don't wear shoes.  You know they're badass when they shun shoes.  And their fangs look so cool.  I'd get a ring for my fangs, with some feathers and diamonds on it.  I'd be Nicki Trollnaj.

Online Goals of 2018

I, like most people, tend to fail badly at any resolutions I make at the start of the year. It's not that I'm not committed, it's more like the resolution was half-baked in the first place. I never take the time to write anything down so I have something physical to look at as a representation of my goals.  I think if I had something like that, it would make it easier to keep those goals in mind.  That being said, here are my goals for my blog/online stuff for 2018!

1. Stream at least 3 times a week

The failure of a lot of streamers is that they don't have a schedule.  I thrive on a schedule. I like knowing I'm going to do this thing, at this time, on this day. I'm making it a goal to stream 3 times a week, and plan it out beforehand so I can update my schedule on Twitch.  My work schedule changes daily so I can only plan a week at a time, and I update my schedule accordingly. 3 is the bare minimum, but I'd like to stream 5 days a week if we're talking a perfect world here.

2. Post on Instagram and Twitter once a day, every day

I think to be a successful streamer and content creator, you have to have a strong social media presence.  It creates a window into your life and makes it easier for viewers to connect with you.  It makes you more relatable.  And we all know smart use of hashtags can expand your audience.

3. Post 3 videos a week on each channel

I have a gaming channel and a pet channel (which I'm still setting up).  I think 3 videos a week per channel is a good rate of growth and content output.  It's a little easier to create content for gaming channels because you can clip from streams and record Let's Play footage that requires not much editing.  A pet channel is more difficult. However, given my flexible work schedule I think it will be a very accomplishable task.

4. Post 2 blog posts a week

I'm been somewhat consistent with 2 blog posts a week for a little while, barring some droughts here and there.  I have a bunch of ideas drafted so mostly it's a matter of getting the thought onto the page.  The nice thing about gaming is that the scene is always changing so there's no shortage of new stuff to write about.

5. Work up to at least 30 concurrent viewers

I haven't set myself any follower goals or anything, because I believe that if you provide the content consistently and are good at networking and advertising yourself, the followers come with time and perseverance.  I would like to have at least 30 concurrent viewers in my channel, because who doesn't want that many people to talk to?

6. Open a P.O. box

This one may not be feasible this year or even next year, but it's still something to aim toward.  I'd like to open a P.O. box for people to send me letters and stuff, but that ties into the follower amount.  Why pay for an expensive P.O. box that no one's sending anything to? It provides more motivation to work hard.

7. Open a merch store

Sort of like the previous goal, may not be feasible this year, for the same reason. Still a goal.

8. Commission official channel art

All of my art is stuff I slapped together myself.  It would be nice to commission official art for my Twitch, YouTube, and socials to make it all more cohesive and "me".

9. Become Discord partner and set up my own Discord

If there's enough interest in this I'd love to make a Discord where my community and I can talk together and build camaraderie.  Of course, like the last few, again depends on if I have the sheer numbers of followers to make this a worthwhile venture.  If I work hard and dedicate myself, I'm confident that I can make this happen.

10. Join Twitch Kittens stream team

I love the Twitch Kittens community.  I know I don't qualify for the team right now, but I'd like to in the future, and I'm proud to be a Twitch Kitten.

Anime I'm Most Looking Forward to in 2018

I made my Games I'm looking Forward to in 2018 post a few days ago, so now I'm going to be looking at exciting new anime coming out in 2018!

1. FLCL 2

anime 2018 girl cat ear headphones anime flcl 2

I watched FLCL on Cartoon Network waaaay back in the day.  I'm excited for this sequel series but being that it's been so long, I'm worried it may not be as good as the original. But I shall be optimistic about it and I can't wait to see it!

2. Sword Art Online: Alicization

sword art online alicization anime 2018

It's been a while since that last season of SAO ended, so I'm ready for some fresh material.  This is a continuation of the previous season of SAO, however....

3. Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online

sword art online alternative gun gale online anime 2018 sinon kirito

I have not one SAO to look forward to this year, but TWO!  This is a retelling of the previous season.  I avoid spoilers so I have no idea what this one will be!  I'm hoping it may be more Sinon-focused since I really liked her, or maybe it will center on Asuna?  Either way, I shall surely be watching!

4. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal Season IV

pretty guardian sailor moon crystal season iv anime 2018 usagi chibiusa

I've been closely watching all the new Sailor Moon releases, and I've been particularly looking forward to this one since this was one of my favorite seasons of the original.  I'm interested in the differences between this and the original anime, since thus far Crystal has been truer to the manga than the original anime was.  On a similar note, I'm looking forward to the new dubs of the final 2 seasons of the original anime.

5. Ghost in the Shell Shinsaku

Ghost in the Shell Shinsaku anime 2018 motoko kusanagi

There is very little information about the upcoming Ghost in the Shell anime, except that it's 99% certain that it's actually going to happen.  I've been a long time fan of the franchise so I'm definitely looking forward to what end up coming out.

6. Yu Yu Hakusho Special

yu yu hakusho special anime 2018 boys

It was recently announced that in honor of Yu Yu Hakusho's anniversary, a new special anime would be released!  It may only be the length of a single episode, or maybe a movie.  There are very few details yet.  I've been watching YYH since I was really little so naturally I can't wait to see what this one will be!

7. Grisaia: Phantom Trigger

Grisaia: Phantom Trigger girls 2018 anime girls guns

This is one of the few anime on my list that isn't a sequel or continuation.  I'm generally a fan of the "girls with guns" genre, so it looks promising to me so far.  We'll see when it actually comes out.

8. Evangelion 3.0+1.0

Evangelion 3.0+1.0 anime 2018 asuka shinji rei mari

Weird title aside, I'm interested in this one too. I've seen the previous three Evangelion films and I'm interested in how the story ends.  I really just want everything to end happily ever after! But this is Evangelion, so that is unlikely to happen.

9. Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card

card captor sakura clear card ccs sakura li clow anime 2018

Another one from my childhood!  I just hope that when they dub it, it won't be as terrible as the dub of the first series. Like seriously, I try to go back and watch it and it's a fucking nightmare.  Even the redub from a couple years ago was terribad, and nowadays dubs are usually passable. Dubs nowadays are way better than they used to be.  It's been years since I watched CCS so I'll definitely need to brush up before watching this one.  I shall definitely be watching the original in all its subtitled glory.

10. Comic Girls

comic girls anime 2018 cute

Another one that is not a sequel.  It's basically about a group of girls who draw manga who live in a dormitory... for some reason?  I think it looks cute so I'll be giving it a look.

Games I'm Most Looking Forward to in 2018

2018 looks to be already shaping up to be a great year for video games.  There's so many games I am looking forward to (meanwhile my wallet is crying).  I honestly shouldn't even be thinking about new games since I just picked up a metric shit ton in the Steam winter sale.  I have a serious problem.  My mental excuse for buying them is that I can play them on stream and post Let's Plays on my YouTube channel.

1. World of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth

While we don't have an ETA for this expansion, it's assumed it will come out SOMETIME in 2018.  I seriously hope it does.  I'm looking forward to some Nightborne action.  I've always been disappointed that Night Elves were an Alliance race, because I am Horde For Life.  This will be a nice second to playing an actual Night Elf.

2. Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet

The gameplay on this game looks really fun (I'm glad it's not first-person).  The graphics look amazing and I'm excited it looks like there are some female playable characters (I don't like playing dudes for some reason).

3. Girls und Panzer: Dream Tank Match

I love Girls und Panzer.  I'm really excited about this game.

4. Kingdom Hearts III

I am an OG Kingdom Hearts fangirl!  We have been waiting for this game for literally years.  KH is a really special game.  Playing it after leaving it alone for even years at a time feels a lot like coming home.  For a lot of us it was the first "real" video game we played.  The feels are real!

5. BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

Full disclosure here, I have never played any previous games in this series.  What makes this one special, you ask?  Well it has Ruby and Weiss from RWBY!  That alone makes it comelling to me since I've been a big RWBY fan for a while.  If I like this one, I might go back and pick up a couple older ones to play.  Who knows.

6. Soulcalibur VI

I've been playing these games for a while too. I remember playing it in the arcade in the mall when I was just a youngin.  I sort of fell off the bandwagon and haven't played the last couple games, but I'd like to get back into it.

7. Them's Fightin' Herds

This was originally conceived as a My Little Pony fighting game.  Strange right?  However, it's seemed to work since it's evolved into something much cooler.  I donated to the crowdfunding campaign so I can't wait to see what the devs of this game come up with.

8. Tomb Raider 2018

No title or trailer has officially been released yet, but there is a new Tomb Raider expected to be released in 2018.  If they're smart, they'll market it with the movie.  I love Tomb Raider but I havem't played one in a very long time even though I have a bunch of them in my Steam library.  I need to get those played before I pick up this one.

9. Detroit: Become Human

This is the type of game I would typically play. I'm not generally a huge fan of darker, gritty games.  Hoever this one looks somewhat interesting to me and I'm going to at least try it.

10. Fe

Also not a game I'd usually play, but it has an interesting premise and it looks absolutely GORGEOUS.  Also, anyone else thing that the villains are a metaphor for humans destroying the forest? Juuuust a thought.

What games are you looking forward to in 2018?

A Guide for First-Time Con-Goers!

Convention season is now underway!  While it's an exciting time, those of us who have attended a few know some insider tricks that newbies may not.  Above all, remember to have fun!  There is no point in going if you don't have fun.  Here is my list of tips I wish someone had told me before my first convention.

This post was inspired by a request made by someone from Vegas.com, who requested me to write something for Vegas's own LVL UP EXPO.  I am NOT getting paid for this.  I just thought it would be fun to write!   For those attending LVL UP EXPO, check out the Vegas travel deals page for great money-savers!

1. Shop around for hotels.  There will usually be a discount for whichever hotel the convention is in, but many nearby hotels will also have discounts for congoers and shuttles to and from the hotel.  Make sure to hit up the con's website for a list of hotels nearby that will have con discounts.  You could save a lot of money for an hour of work.  Don't splurge too much on a hotel because you probably won't be spending that much time in it anyway.  You'd probably rather spend that money on a plushie anyway right?  Also consult your friends to see if any of them wanna tag along so you can split the cost of the room.

2. Make a packing list.  Don't just throw things in your bag and hope you brought the essentials.  Make a list of everything you want/need to bring, and don't be afraid to add to it.  The smart thing to do is start your list a week or so in advance before you pack, and add to it over the week.  That way you're less likely to forget anything important.  You do NOT want to have to Google the location of a gas station nearby just to buy a phone charger at two in the morning.  My advice to is to make sure you remember your money, and credit/debit cards, your I.D., and any insurance/health cards, clip or rubber band them so they're together, and keep them on you at all time.  You never know when you might fall drunken down the stairs and need to hit up an ER.  Also make sure you bring clothes, hygiene items (don't be that stinky guy in line at the food booth), chargers, any electronic you wanna bring like your phone or laptop, and any cosplays you need to bring.  Also don't forget your medications if you take any.  That being said, don't bring anything super expensive.  You never know what could happen and you don't wanna be out a $2000 laptop because you lost it in the hotel.

3. Plan your trip to a T, but don't be afraid to deviate.  Cons usually post their programming weeks in advance, and some even have apps to help you plan out your personal schedule.  Make sure you consult this information so you can efficiently go from one thing to the next and you don't miss  out on something you find interesting.  However, don't be afraid to do something different than you had planned if you see something cool.

4. Make sure you consult the weather gods.  You never know what might happen weather-wise.  I always bring a sweater even if it's super hot, and a skirt and shorts even if it's super cold.  Make sure to Google the weather conditions for the days you'll be away.  It's always good to bring at least one pair of sneakers even if it seems like flip-flop weather, and an umbrella even if it's super dry.  You never know what the weather has in store for you!  Also make sure you are dressing comfy.  You will do a lot of walking, so comfortable shoes are a must.

5. Don't spend all your money right away!  Make sure you look around to see everything you may want to buy and where it is.  Prioritize the things you really want with the stuff that might just be kinda cool to have.  Also don't buy things you don't have room for.  Don't go buying a dozen plushies when you don't have a shelf to put them on, or no wall space for the 6 posters you bought.  Put some serious consideration into your purchases or you may experience some buyer's regret.  On the last day of conventions, items are also usually on sale at the vendors so if there was something you have your eye on but don't really need, see if it's discounted on the last day.

6. Read the rules.  Make sure that badass sword that is essential to your cosplay is even allowed.  Many cons will not allow real weapons.  Be sure that everything you want to dress up as is allowed so it doesn't ruin your plans.

7. Don't go crazy buying food.  I know, it's tempting to go to the fancy hotel restaurant or that cool place across the street, but trust me, it isn't worth it.  That fancy overpriced food will last an hour, but the plushie you could have bought instead will last a lifetime.  If the vendors are selling cool expensive Japanese candy, just make a note of what it is and price check it on Amazon.  It will probably be cheaper, though as previously stated, it will likely be discounted on the last day.  My first anime convention a girl I was with bought a bunch of boxes of Hello Panda at a discount on the last day of the convention!  Just eat whatever food is in the consuite or is free at the convention, plus cheap stuff like McDonald's.  You can go back to eating healthy when you go home.

8. Don't be a dick.  Make sure you are practicing hygiene so the people around you don't suffer.  Always ask permission before taking pictures of people in cosplay.  For the love of god, just because a girl is wearing something skimpy does NOT mean she wants you to grab her ass!  Just be nice to everyone else so it's a good experience for everyone.

9. Get there a bit early.  It's a good idea to get there a bit early, maybe even the day before the con.  This is a good idea because you can explore and make a mental map of the hotel or convention hall so you're not so lost when you're trying to get to that anime screening in 4 minutes.  Cons will also usually post maps online.  Study them, grasshopper.  The cons I've went to even had maps on their mobile apps for easy viewing.  It's also a good idea to get the the registration area early, before the throngs of people show up.

10. Don't be shy.  This is a great way to meet people just like you.  Go to the room parties, go to the panels, watch the anime screenings, compete in the tournaments even if you're super bad at the game, hit up the rave later!  This is one of my biggest regrets.  When I've gone to cons I am always too shy and I don't make a single friend.  Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation with someone you don't know.  You could make a great friend.

Sick Days

Things have been pretty quiet lately.  There's a few reasons for that.

I threw out my back (yeah, I'm only 23 and I have back problems).  I was pretty much on bedrest for a week.  And now I'm sick.  It's been a bit of a shit show, and I still have to keep up with my 5 classes I'm taking.

It's been kind of hard to balance everything.  Lately I've been feeling a lot of burnout, and all I wanna do is play Zeus and watch TV.  I've also been watching a lot of Netflix.  I watched the new Land Before Time movie because... I can.  I had all of those movies on VHS back in the day.  I also watched Jem and the Holograms.  It wasn't THAT bad.  I tried to watch this Chinese film called The Assassin but I just couldn't.  I got halfway through and nothing was happening at all.

There's a LOT of good shows on this season.  A lot of new ones.  Here's a list of things I'm watching.  Just because.

1. Hell's Kitchen
2. Supernatural
3. Teen Wolf
4. The Magicians
5. Recovery Road
6. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
7. Real Housewives of Potomac
8. The Shannara Chronicles
9. Shadowhunters
10. Pretty Little Liars
11. New Girl
12. Lost Girl
13. Keeping Up with the Kardashians
14. The Originals
15. The Vampire Diaries
16. Project Runway All Stars
17. Grimm
18. Scandal
19. How to Get Away with Murder
20. Teen Mom
21. Girl Meets World
22. Real Housewives of Atlanta
23. Teen Mom OG
24. Family Guy
25. Vanderpump Rules
26. Dance Moms
27. Criminal Minds
28. Bring It!

My god I have a problem.  But when I'm sick, I just wanna curl up on my bed with my dog and watch some trashy reality television.

Miscellaneous Ramblings

This isn't gonna be a post about anything in particular.  You know how YouTubers sometimes sit down and ramble in front of a camera for 20 minutes about just whatever pops into their head?  This is gonna be like that.  But in text.  So automatically about 35% less interesting.

I haven't been playing a lot of WoW lately.  My raiding team is having roster issues so we're on a bit of a hiatus until we get some more good people.  What keeps happening is we have an abundance of healers but not many good dps.  I've decided to start gearing my shaman as ele.  I haven't played my shaman much and when I did it was resto, but I think ele shamans do look pretty cool.  They're like druids, but with rocks.  And stuff.  It's a bit of a slow start.  Good PUGs are hard to come by.

I also think I'm gonna start my transmog collecting extravaganza in anticipation of Legion.  I don't much transmog collected but there are so many good places to find sets I wanna get a head start on it.  I'm terribly obsessive about keeping my banks clear so I have plenty of slots to hold gear until Legion drops.  I'll also be looking out for mounts while I'm at it.

I finally collected the last pet I can buy for my pet collection.  All the ones now that I don't have are from achievements and whatnot.  And I now have about 15 or so pets that are still not 25.  That will be easy to rectify, if I can make my lazy butt get up and do battle trainers.

In non-WoW news, the game I've mostly playing is Zeus: Master of Olympus.  It's an old-school citybuilder based on ancient Greece.  It's one of my favorite games.  I just discovered the wide world of user-created campaigns to download.  I'm having a lot of fun with it.

zeus master of olympus

I kind of want to start making Let's Play videos for my currently-inactive YouTube channel.  It's just a small case of cold feet.  I think I may want to start out with Lethis since I've already played it so it may be a bit easier to talk about.  After that, I want to start whittling down my Steam list.  I have so many games I haven't played.  After Lethis, I'm thinking of playing Magical Diary and making videos and a review about that.

Time is a bit scarce lately though.  I'm taking five classes this semester.  That's a big workload.  I'm taking them online so mostly it's a lot of reading more than anything else.

So right now I'm starting to binge-watch all the Pokemon movies on Netflix because they're being taken down in February.  I hurt my back again so all I have is time for the next few days while my back heals.  My left hip and my lower back right above my tailbone is where it hurts the most.  I can't even stand up straight.  At least it's a good excuse to ask my mom to do things for me, like make me grilled cheese.

So that's what I've been doing.  I'll be finishing my Resto Druid raiding guide probably in the next week or so.  Since I haven't been raiding as much I haven't gotten the screenies or been doing the mechanics to keep the strategies in my mind.  Until then, see ya.

PS: If you're in the US, don't forget to caucus!  It doesn't matter who for.  Just be involved!

The Guild Slut

I have a confession to make.  I was that girl.

You know.  THAT girl.  The girl in your guild who flirts with all the guys, makes raunchy jokes, and has a collection of dick pics on her phone.  That girl.

I was the guild slut.

It's not a title I claimed on purpose.  When I first started playing WoW I barely talked.  My guildies didn't even know who I was or that I was even a girl at all.  Eventually, I guess I discovered that if you were a girl and you flaunted it, you got attention.  In real life, I'm a pretty shy person.  My social interaction is pretty limited.  So when I found that I could get attention from guys in WoW, well gosh, it was an epiphany.

I mercilessly flirted with just about every guy I could.  I made sure to stay away from the guys who I knew were too old for me or had significant others.  That was drama I didn't want.  My long-term guild at the time had a guild Facebook so I always looked on there to make sure to only flirt with the guildies I found attractive, because I'm shallow like that.  Sometimes the flirtations would turn into sexting, or worse.... e-romances.

I was naive.  I didn't realize then that a lot of time, my flirting only lead to trouble.  Most of the time, the girls in my guild didn't like me because they thought I was a big immature slut.  At the time I just ignored them and thought they were just prudes and couldn't handle my openness.  Looking back, I wish I'd at least respected that sometimes there is a place and a not-place to flirt with guildies, and maybe raid wasn't one of them.  I annoyed the fuck out of people.

My need for attention lead me to make some bad decisions.  I got into relationships I shouldn't have.  They all ended up with my heart broken and my feelings hurt when I should have known better than to bring them into a game in the first place.  I made enemies because I didn't care about anyone else's feelings.  I sold pictures of my body for gold.  Yeah, I did that.  I'm not that ashamed, except I should have charged more because my boobies are priceless, but I lost a friend because of that transaction and that I am sad about.

It's difficult to make real friends in-game when everyone already thinks of you as an object.  I got guys' attention by flirting with them and acting sexual, but when I tried to have real conversations or talk about something that wasn't sexual, they didn't understand.  I'd conditioned them to think of me as an object of sexuality, not an actual person.  It took me a while to realize I was doing that.

I broke up a relationship and lost a dear friend because I couldn't keep my nose out of other peoples' business.  I was infatuated with someone, so I butted into their relationship and they eventually broke up.  I still maintain that they would have broken up eventually anyway, but that friend has never forgiven me and he probably never will.  It's my biggest single regret from the last 4 years of playing WoW.  Every mistake I've made doesn't compare to that single moment because I lost someone I cared about.

I just joined a new guild.  Their raid chat is raunchy and I love it.  They shit talk each other all night and it's the most hilarious thing ever.  I've been easing into talking because I don't want to make the same mistakes I have before.  Instead of being an object, I want to be a valued and respected member of the guild, who maybe happens to be a girl.  I want to be accepted and respected, not be known once again as the guild slut.

I am worth more than that.

2015 Retrospective

2015 retrospective
Google
I feel like 2015 has been a year of growth for me.  Thought I'm not exactly where I want to be, I am making progress toward trying to be the me that I want to be.

Things I have accomplished this year include:

1. Working out some of the kinks of this blog and posting on it regularly.

2. Making it through a whole year of school.

3. Getting on medication for my stomach troubles instead of just trying to muddle through it on my own.

4. Finally starting to see a therapist.

5. Having a regular job the entire year.

6. Paying off my medical debts.

7. Going to a convention and leaving home for 3 days without having a panic attack.

8. Finally getting around to painting some of my furniture, putting up shelves for my plushies, and generally making my room feel more 'me'.

9. I completed IntPiPoMo and Blaugust.

10. Found a guild to raid with for the foreseeable future.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but this is what I can think of.

I feel like 2015 was just the first step, however.  It will take more work for me to be in a better place emotionally and mentally.  For 2016, I would like to accomplish some things.  This isn't exactly a list of resolutions, because I think resolutions should be more like steps and not end results or you won't ever get them done.

But these are some things I want to do:

1. Read more books.

2. Watch more anime.

3. Play more games.

4. Get healthier, physically and mentally.

5. Get my driver's license.

6. Start a YouTube channel.

7. Save money.

8. Stop spending money on fast food!

9. Continue to post regularly.

10. Make more friends.

I don't think my goals are too lofty.  It's going to take breaking them up into steps to achieve the end result, and it may not even happen in 2016.  It may take longer, but I think as long as I make progress, it's okay that it isn't perfect.

Happy New Year.

Lethis Halloween Updates!

lethis path of progress halloween

Lethis - Path of Progress is getting some Halloween spooky magic!  It is being updated for Halloween, featuring spooky decorations, 5 new sandbox maps (and since trade is now available in sandbox mode, you can fiscally maintain a city), and some corrections for the English version.

I hope this means they fixed some of the poor translations.

Also, in honor of the update, Lethis is now 15% off!  This game is one of my favorites so please show some support for the developers if you can.

Games I'm Most Excited for from E3

Another E3 has come and gone.  I'd say it was a good year for gaming.  So much cool stuff is on the horizon.  I looked at the games they announced and showed trailers for and I compiled a list of all the games I'm most hyped for.

1. Assassin's Creed: Syndicate
I've never played an Assassin's Creed game, but I've wanted to since they started churning them out.  During the Steam Sale the last couple weeks I bought a bunch of them so I'm going to start playing them.  I'm very excited because this one features a female protagonist (about time!).

2. Mass Effect: Andromeda
This is another game I haven't actually played the series of, but it's on my wishlist!  The trailer looked cool and this game also has a playable female protagonist, so I wanna catch up on the other Mass Effect games so I can play this one.

3. Fable Legends
I haven't played a game in this series either (are we seeing a theme here?).  It has a playable female protagonist, which is always a hook for me, and apparently this is a prequel so I don't even have to play the other Fable games to understand this one (though if I like it I probably will).

4. Tom Clancy's the Division
I'm not actually a survival game player.  The whole post-apocalyptic disease kills all the people thing never did anything for me, but I think this game looks really interesting and looks like it a unique take on the genre.  I'm really interested in where this game goes.

5. Overwatch
I've been excited about this game since I saw the trailer at BlizzCon.  It looks kind of like a cartoon CoD.  I'm thinking I'll probably be playing Widowmaker the most since sniper type characters tend to be my shtick, but Tracer looks really fun too.  I can't wait till open beta.

6. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
I've played a little Call of Duty over the years but not very much.  I just bought Advanced Warfare during the Steam sale though so I'll brush up on my trigger finger until this comes out.  For someone who's generally a pacifist, I actually really love shooters.

7. Destiny: The Taken King
I don't have original Destiny yet but it's on my list.  This is the second DLC and it looks like it's adding some cool features.

8. Kingdom Hearts III
I have been waiting for this game my whole entire life.  Like my whole life guys.  Kingdom Hearts has been my jam since middle school and I am unbelieveably hyped about this game.  The Tangled world from the gameplay trailer looks stunning and I may actually have to watch Tangled now since I haven't actually seen it.  I hope it includes maybe a cameo return to previous world like Atlantica or Halloween Town.  Those were always my favorites.

9. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
This is part of a series I've never heard of but it looks like an interesting game so I'll be watching to see where it goes.

10. Rise of the Tomb Raider
I tried playing a Tomb Raider game when the first movie came out but I was too young to get how to play it.  During the Steam sale I bought a bunch of Tomb Raider games, including the last one, so I'll catch up on those in preparation for this.  I hope Lara's a little less whiny in it.  I also hope they release it for PS3 or Windows.

11. Street Fighter V
Oh Street Fighter.  A video gaming stable since I was a wee little lass.  I'm pretty excited about this game.  I like fighting games and I've always like Cammy so I hope she's in it.  I'm gonna kick ass with her.

12. Star Wars: Battlefront
I super excited for this.  I played the original Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: Battlefront II on PS2 all the time.  Sometimes me and my brother would play together and it was one of the only times we ever got along.  There is some serious nostalgia going on here.

Little Boxes

I have to say I'm fairly happy with how garrisons are going.  They're good moneymakers and they're a good hub to hang around in.  That being said, I wish there had been a lot more customization.  All the buildings look the same, the terrain looks the same, you get no say in where it's going to be.  The Alliance gets a beautiful zone for their garrison, and I, being Horde, have... a snowy slab of rock.  Have I been Punk'd?

Best case scenario, I was hoping for maybe Sims-style customization, like designing buildings and decor, terrain brushes, garden arrangements, ets etc.  Obviously that was way too much work for the devs.  My garrison doesn't really feel mine.  All my alts' garrisons look the same, and so does everyone elses' on my faction.  There's no way to make your garrison your own.

If I had the option, my garrison would look like a legit fairy village.  Very green and flowery, with rainbows and butterflies, maybe a nice waterfall.  And the houses made from natural green things.  But there'd be no bugs, because I really just can't even with bugs.  If anyone has played Wildstar, you know what the Aurin houses look like.  My buildings would be very similar to that.

Yes, I am secretly a 5 year old.
I imagine my buildings as very organic and whimsical.
